Asiya patrol
SINCE 1902
The Patrol was organized in 1902 and holds its stated meeting on the Third Thursday of every month at Asiya Shrine, 1925 Elkhorn Court, San Mateo. Prior to every stated meeting there is a dinner, and generally it gets underway at 5:45pm with hors d’oeuvres, 6:30pm dinner with meeting to follow. The dinners are usually prepared by our fellow Patrolmen and are always quite good; there is a nominal charge for dinner.
The Patrol is a precision marching Uniformed Unit and it is the first formed Unit of Asiya Shriners, formally Islam Temple. The first Captain of the Patrol was Noble George Filmer, who spearheaded the development of the Patrol Drill Team and the members are very proud of the many honors that they have won in street parades and patrol marching competition.
The Patrol continues to provides Honor Guard, Flag Escort Duty as well as Special VIP Escort Duty for our Illustrious Potentate, and when called upon is always prepared to serve Asiya Shrines. The uniforms of the Patrol are three, Dress Whites, Full and Fancy and Fatigues. The Fatigues may change in style from time to time, but the Dress Whites and Full and Fancy remain old style in nature and are close to as original Patrol uniforms, in style, as possible. The Patrol participates in several parades each year, and can be seen escorting the flags in many of Asiya Shriners events and parades. The Patrol Room at Asiya Shriners is one of the nicest rooms in the Asiya Shriners building, why not come and visit the Patrol at one of their meetings or at a parade.
